WWE Royal Rumble 2008 Results

World Heavyweight Championship Match
Edge (c) vs. Rey Mysterio
An okay match. The end came when Rey went for the pin only to have Vicki pull the referee out of the ring. Rey began exchanging words with Vicki until Edge attempted a spear only to have Rey leapfrog it setting Edge up for the 619. Vicki then protected Edge and took the impact of the 619. Rey then went for the West Coast Pop on;y to have Edge spear him in mid-air and get the pin.
1/1

WWE Championship Match
Randy Orton (c) vs. Jeff Hardy
Not alot of dangerous moves on the scale of the past few RAWs. End came with an RKO out of nowhere for the win.
2/2

Career Threatening Match
United States Champion MVP vs. Ric Flair
MVP tapped to the Figure-4.
3/3

Chris Jericho vs. JBL
Just as I expected, Y2J nailed JBL with a chair for the DQ. Jericho then wrapped a cable around JBL's neck and did a hangman over the ropes. This was the bloodiest I have ever seen Jericho.

30-Man Royal Rumble
Not too many surprise entrants. A ver, very, very old Jimmy Snuka and very, very, very fat and pale Roddy Piper made appearances. The biggest surprise was John Cena at #30. He showed no signs of pain or injury whatsoever. I was a little surprised. As soon as Cena's music hit the camera zoomed in on HHH's face and I knew right then that the WWE's original plan (and my prediction) to have Batista win was out the window and that Cena and HHH would be the last 2 left. I figured that since they zoomed in on HHH's face that Cena had spoiled his party and that Cena would be going home with the win and the title show at WM24. I was right. Cena wins. Besides, having Cena come out and not win wouldn't have made any sense. Then he would have just been anpther one of the 29 guys who didn't win The restaraunt that I was watching the PPV at went crazy when Cena came out and even more crazy when Cena won. The guy at the table next to me was so happy that he offered to buy me a drink. I declined since I was on my way out anyways. I wonder if he would have offered it to me if I had told him how much I dislike Cena. Also, Hornswoggle was never eliminated. When he came out he crawled under the ring ans stayed there for most of the match. When he eventually made it into the ring he was saved by Finlay he (Hornswoggle) jumped out of the ring (not over the top rope though) and went to the back.
4/5 - Cena ruined it.

WWE Royal Rumble 2008 Predictions

After a bit of a layoff I am back with yet another edition of Wrestleblogger predictions. Unfortunately, I am not being joined by David for this set of picks. I never received his predictions. Oh well. I guess I win! I can't be sure of this, but I think this is the first time I've done solo picks since the very first edition for Armageddon 2005. On to the picks...

World Heavyweight Championship Match
Edge (c) vs. Rey Mysterio
I Say: Rey winning the WWE Title? I think not. It's no secret that I am not a fan of Rey so I have no problems saying that I hope Rey never wins another WWE Title ever again. I can't see Edge losing here so he is my pick. The only way that I see Rey winning is if the WWE feels the need to give Rey a non-title winning victory to explain a rematch. Interference by Vicki, Chavito, and The Edgeheads looks obvious.

WWE Championship Match
Randy Orton (c) vs. Jeff Hardy
I Say: Hardy will NOT be winning the WWE Title. Hardy isn't WWE Title material right now (not that he ever will be). Randy Orton will be retaining the title in what should be the match of the night. I expect even more huge bumps from Hardy.

Career Threatening Match
United States Champion MVP vs. Ric Flair
I Say: Ric Flair isn't going to be having his last match against MVP. I'm a big fan of MVP, but he's not the guy to end Flair's career. Flair wins in an easy pick.

Chris Jericho vs. JBL
I Say: This is JBL's first PPV match back and he can't lose. After all that JBL has done to Y2J I have to say that JBL will get the DQ victory after Jericho can't control himself and get's DQ'd.

30-Man Royal Rumble (So Far):
Umaga
Snitsky
Hardcore Holly
Mick Foley
Cody Rhodes
Santino Marella
Carlito
Shawn Michaels
Ken Kennedy
Hornswoggle
The Undertaker
Batista
Kane
Finlay
Jamie Noble
Great Khali
Mark Henry
John Morrison
The Miz
Shelton Benjamin
Big Daddy V
Triple H
Tommy Dreamer
Chuck Palumbo
I Say: I'm not going to go through the whole list explaining why each guy won't win. I will just go through the guys who have a chance. Shawn Michaels, Kennedy, Batista, & Triple Haytch. HBK's Rumble winning days are past him, Kennedy isn't quite WM main event material just yet, and I just can't see Trips winning it. That leaves Batista. He will win. Don't ask me why. He just will.
