WWE One Night Stand 2008 Predictions [Updated]

It's once again time for another WWE PPV. This time it's One Night Stand - the one night where the WWE goes to the EXTREME! To be honest I was never a huge fan of these types of gimmick PPVs, but I suppose it's better than TNA's gimmick PPV, Lockdown, where all of the matches are in a steel cage. At least the WWE is adding a little more variety to the card.

Stretcher match
Shawn Michaels vs. Batista
I Say: I want to lean towards HBK, but since he won their last meeting I will have to go with Batista. I see a chance that the WWE will go with the storyline that I talked about in my predictions for the HBK/Y2J match at the last PPV; Shawn getting a "legit" injury and Batista not buying it and destroying HBK.
Update: I am changing my pick to Shawn Michaels. Don't ask me why. I just am.
Dave Says: Shawn Michaels is tough to pick against but Batista can't forever lose to him. Batista wins.

Falls Count Anywhere match
Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga
I Say: I get the feeling that Hardy's push is picking up where it left off before his suspension. Hardy wins and then goes on to try to regain his IC Title from Jericho.
Dave Says: Hardy wins by jumping off something gigantic.

First Blood match
John Cena vs. John "Bradshaw" Layfield
I Say: I really, really, want to say that JBL win win since this feud looks like it may continue, but I've seen this before - Cena dominating a feud. Cena wins.
Dave Says: Jesus, this again? Cena wins.

Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Championship
Triple H (c) vs. Randy Orton
I Say: In a surprising move, Randy Orton regains the title. Kick to the head anyone?
Dave Says: Deja Vu. Triple H, again.

Five-Way Singapore Cane Match - The winner of the match will face Kane for the ECW Championship at Night of Champions 2008.
CM Punk vs. John Morrison vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. Tommy Dreamer vs. The Big Show
I Say: Chavo? No. Dreamer? You're kidding, right? Morrison? Maybe, but probably not. Big Show? He could regain the title, but not now. Punk? Sure. Why not? The WWE likes to book a face v. face or heel v. heel feud every now and then. Punk wins the title shot.
Dave Says: Night of Champions??? Big Show wins.

Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship
The Undertaker vs. Edge -
If Undertaker loses, he will have to leave the WWE.
I Say: I don't really see UT leaving the WWE, but when there are these types of stipulations in a match they tend to happen. Here is how it will go down (or at least how I would book it) - Edge wins the match and title. Undertaker disappears for a while and 'haunts' Edge to the point where Edge demands that Undertaker come back so he (Edge) can kill 'Taker's legend once and for all. UT comes back and regains the title. Book it! Edge wins. If not, another draw.
Dave Says: I will go with Edge winning the title.

Diva's I Quit Match
Melina v. Beth Phoenix
I Say: Phoenix's momentum has stalled since losing the belt. Melina wins.
Dave Says: [Actually Dave doesn't say anything. This match was made after he submitted his picks, but since he ALWAYS picks Melina I will put her in as his pick]

Summary:
I Said: Batista Shawn Michaels, Hardy, Cena, Orton, Punk, Edge, & Melina
Dave Said: Batista, Hardy, Cena, HHH, Big Show, Edge, & Melina

WWE Judgement Day 2008 Results

I'm going to make this short & sweet.

Steel Cage match for the WWE Championship

Triple H (c) vs. Randy Orton
Trips wins after a pedigree.
Dave: 1/1
Me: 1/1

John Cena vs. John "Bradshaw" Layfield
Typical Cena match - He get's his ass kicked for most of it and hits an F-U out of nowhere for the win.
Dave: 2/2
Me: 2/2

Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels
HBK wins after reversing the Walls of Jericho to get the pin.
Dave: 3/3
Me: 2/3

WWE Tag Team Championship
John Morrison and The Miz (c) vs. Kane and CM Punk
Morrison hits his finisher on Punk while Kane and Miz are battling outside the ring.
Dave: 4/4
Me: 3/4

World Heavyweight Championship
The Undertaker vs. Edge
I was close in my update to my predictions when I said that the title wouldn't be awarded to either wrestler. Undertaker won by countout and was informed by Vickie that the title can't be won on a countout. The title remains vacant.
Dave: 4/5
Me: 4/5

Triple Threat match for the WWE Women's Championship
Mickie James (c) vs. Beth Phoenix vs. Melina
I forgot how this ended, but I do know that James won and keeps the title.
Dave: 4/6
Me: 4/6

The Big Show/Henry match that I wrote about in the update of my predictions didn't take place. There was another match though. MVP v. Jeff Hardy. Before the match I picked Hardy to win and I was right.
Dave: 4/6
Me: 5/7

Total
I picked 5 of 7 correct and Dave picked 4/6. We both only missed 2. Not too bad.

WWE Judgement Day 2008 Predictions [Updated]

Steel Cage match for the WWE Championship
Triple H (c) vs. Randy Orton
Dave Says: I don't see Triple H losing the title this quickly although it's nice to see that Randy Orton is still being presented as champoinship material. Although I have to admit that I'm tired of Triple H, Orton and Cena being the only three ever vying for the title.Triple H wins.
I Say: I totally agree with Dave. Triple H is not going to lost the title this quick. The WWE could be desperate for that 'Anything Can Happen' feeling by having these 2 trade the title back and forth, but I'll stay with Trips. I am fairly confident that this is not the end of this feud. A 3-way next month with Cena in the mix? Probably.

John Cena vs. John "Bradshaw" Layfield
Dave Says: Oh please. Don't insult me. Cena is not going to lose to the blubber Layfield.
I Say: Hasn't Cena been absent from RAW for a week or two before this past Monday? This feud has very little build-up (and a weak one at that). I'll be safe and say Cena wins. Another meaningless feud for the returning JBL (Jericho, Finlay, and Cena) should be on the way. JBL v. Duggan maybe?

Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels
Dave Says: Shawn Michaels will win.
I Say: I really have no clue who is going to win. I can see both guys winning this match. I know that HBK won that great match at WM in Seattle so I think that Jericho may win this time, but they may be trying to transition HBK into become more of a sneak and a cheat (a la Ric Flair), but still a babyface. Here is my pick - HBK get's a 'legit' injury (kayfabe), but Jericho doesn't buy it and uses it to his advantage to get the win.

WWE Tag Team Championship
John Morrison and The Miz (c) vs. Kane and CM Punk
Dave Says: Morrison and Miz keep the titles.
I Say: I can't disagree with Dave here. Miz and Morrison keep the titles, but I see a DQ finish. I'll go with M&M. By the way, If you haven't checked out Miz and Morrison's .com show, The Dirt Sheet, you're missing a pretty good show (sometimes).

World Heavyweight Championship
The Undertaker vs. Edge
Dave Says: Here is my surprise (and most likely wrong) pick of the evening. I see Edge getting back the title. Undertaker never keeps it for long.
I Say: I totally disagree. This is likely 'Taker's last title run and I'm pretty sure that it will be a somewhat lengthy one. Could he lose the title at some point only to gain it back and hold it until the end of his career? Absolutely, but he's not losing it yet.
Update: When making my predictions I forgot that 'Taker was stripped of the Title a few weeks back and that the title is now vacant. In any event, I still think that Undertaker will win the match and re-gain the title. I think that the title may still be vacant after this match - There's an off-chance that there will be a draw or a DQ in which case i would imagine that the Title would remain vacant.

Triple Threat match for the WWE Women's Championship
Mickie James (c) vs. Beth Phoenix vs. Melina
Dave Says: I'm leading with my heart. Melina wins back the title. Ahhh Melina.
I Say: I know one thing for sure (at least I think I do) - Melina is not winning the title here. It's either James or Phoenix in this match. Here's a tidbit of inside information - The whole Phoenix/James feud was supposed to be a Phoenix/Ashley feud, but Ashley did something to make the bookers switch the feud. With that said, seeing as how Mickie was never supposed to get this title run I have to say that she drops it to Phoenix here.

Last Minute Addition to the Card:
Big Show vs. Mark Henry
Dave Says: No Pick
I Say: I have no clue why Henry is still on the roster. He tends to frequently injure himself or others. Plus, he's not very entertaining. I liked him better when he was Sexual Chocolate. Back when he joined the WWE (right after the 1996 Olympics) he signed a contract for an outrageous amount or money. Back in 2006 I was convinced that the WWE wasn't going to resign him, but his contract expired during a time that the WWE was struggling with injuries so he resigned with them for what I hope is a lot less money. Back to this match. I don't like Mark Henry very much so I will pick Big Show to win.

Summary:
Dave said: Triple H, Cena, HBK, Miz/Morrison, Edge, & Melina.
I Said: Triple H, Cena, Jericho, Miz/Morrison, Undertaker, Phoenix, & Big Show.
