RAW 3.20.2006 - News & Notes

RAW started out with the Spirit Squad in the ring doing a cheer introducing Shane McMahon. As Shane, Vince, and a group of security guards came out a jazz band started playing 'When The Saints Go Marching In' and confetti started raining down. Once they got into the ring fireworks started going off. Shane and Vince then gloated about Shawn Michaels losing at SNME and other embarassing moments for Shawn. Vince also announced that their match at WM22 would be no holds barred and that Michaels would be facing Triple H later in the night. That prompted John Cena to come out and say that after what happened between him and Triple H at SNME he should be one to get first crack at Triple H. Shane started threatening Cena so Vince changed the match to Cena & Michaels v. Triple H & Shane.

Kane defeated Carlito with a chokeslam and later in the show Big Show defeated Chris Masters when Masters hit him with a chair.

As rumored weeks ago, the Blackjacks were announced as the next inductees to the WWE Hall Of Fame. Their longtime manager Bobby Heenan will introduce them.

Flair, RVD, and IC Champ Shelton Benjamin had a 3-way match for the IC title. At one point RVD tried giving Flair the 5-Star frogsplash, but missed. It's a good thing too since Flair would have been smashed to dust if RVD had connected. Shelton gave Flair a poke to the eye during the match - Flair made his usual grunt and completely no-sold it. The end of the match saw Flair put RVD in the Figure-4 leglock only to have Shelton cover Flair who was unable to kick out (due to the leglock).

Mick Foley did a promo where he said that he was no longer the 'Cuddly' Mick Foley and that he is now back to being ruthless and sadistic. Edge's music hit and only Lita came out. She explained that Edge was still in a hospital in Detroit as a result of the con-chair-to that Foley gave him at SNME. She also said that she was appealing to Mick to call off the hardcore match at WM22 and instead make it a normal wrestling match. Foley didn't believe Lita and said that it was about time for Lita to slap him and have Edge attack him from behind. After some taunting Lita slapped him and Edge came out of the crowd and was going to attack Foley from behind, but Foley chased him out of the ring. Lita then tried to hit Foley in the balls from behind, but Foley caught her arm and have her a mandible claw as Edge just stood there scared.

A Playboy pillow fight was announced for WM22 between Torrie and Candice. I can't imagine how horrible an actual wrestling match would have been between them.

Victoria took on Torrie, but as the match was about to start Candice's music started playing and she came out on a bed being carried by 4 men. As soon as the match started Victoria kicked Torrie in the stomach and gave her the Widow's Peak for the win. Candice then came in and roughed Torrie up a bit then left.

After it was announced that Trish would be defending her title against Mickie James at WM22 Mickie was shown in the ring with a giant gift box. Mickie explained how Trish turned her back on her and said that she wanted to give Trish a present. When Trish didn't come out Mickie said that she was going to give Trish a little preview of what the gift was. The box was raised and underneath was a person under a black sheet who looked to be tied up on a chair. Trish came running down and Mickie revealed that it was Ashley under the sheet. Mickie and Trish then battled a bit until Mickie gave her a DDT. During the course of this Mickie somehow got a bloody nose and blood started running into her mouth. Mickie then gave Trish a bloody kiss on the mouth. I'm pretty sure that the bloody nose was unplanned and that she decided to do the kiss anyways.

For the main event Shawn Michaels was announced last and he came running down the aisle and tried to attack Shane who quickly ran into the crowd. Vince's security stopped Shawn from following him and pinned him to the floor. The bell eventually rang and Shane, who came back out from the crowd, tried attacking Cena from behind, but Cena caught him with a punch. Vince then announced that Cena had just used a closed fist and was being DQ'd. The match would now be a handicap match with Shawn taking on Triple H & Shane. Vince ordered Cena to leave ringside and that if he tried to interfere his match at WM22 would be cancelled and he would forfeit his title. Cena ended up coming out during the match and attacked Shane. Cena was in the ring for about 10 seconds before Vince's security team decided to try to stop him. Both Cena and Michaels then battled with the guards as Triple H, Shane, and Vince scurried away. Vince then announced that he had warned Cena to not interfere and as punishment he (Cena) would have to face him (Vince) next week on RAW.
