Kurt Angle to ECW
As many of you out there are aware of this past Monday Paul Heyman announced that he was drafting Kurt Angle to the new ECW. This was clearly done for a few reasons. The first being that they wanted to add a main-event caliber wrestler to the ECW roster. The second reason is that his body is wearing down and ECW will provide a lighter schedule. Without a doubt Kurt Angle is going to thrive in the more extreme environment. Whether or not the ECW crowds embrace him at first is another question, but I have no doubt that he will eventually win them over. I do however have one problem with Angle being moved to ECW; ECW only has one PPV each year as it stands now although there is rumored to be another ECW PPV in the works for December and I am sure that ECW will be featured on the 'Big 4' PPVs. Here's my problem - Kurt Angle is at his best on PPVs. He is phemoninal wrestler on Smackdown, but when it comes to PPVs he raises it up to another level. Remember his match with Shawn Michaels @ WM21?? I sure hope that the WWE plans to give ECW (Angle in particular) more PPV exposure. Will a match or 2 from ECW be featured on each RAW/SD PPV? Will the WWE turn the RAW/SD PPV cycle into a RAW/SD/ECW PPV cycle? I sure hope not.
More to come...
