RAW 7.24.2006 - News & Notes
- Shawn Michaels started off RAW by telling the crowd that Stephanie had gone into labor this afternoon (she really did) and that Vince & Shane wouldn't be there. He also said that Triple H happened to be in the same hospital as Stephanie, but didn't explicitly say that Triple H is there because Stephanie is having his baby. Coach came down claiming to have Vince on the phone. Vince made a match between Coach and Shawn. Shawn would win the match by DQ when Umaga interfered. It was announced that Shawn would take on Umaga next week.
- The Spirit Squad successfully defended their tag titles against the Highlanders.
- Foly cut a promo via satellite ripping on Flair's overused catchphrases.
- This Week In Wrestling History showed a Flair v. Funk match from the G.A.B. 1989. Afterwards Flair came down and once again challenged Foley to another match. Edge interruped and Nitro attacked Flair from behind. They both double-teamed Flair until Cena made the save. Via telephone call to Coach, Vince made a Edge/Nitro v. Cena/Flair match. Cena and Flair won.
- An ECW commercial aired promoting a Big Show v. Kane extreme rules match for the ECW Title @ ECW on SciFi.
- Todd Grisham came out to the stage to announce that Stephanie had given birth to an 8 pound 7 ounce baby girl name Aurora Rose. I predict a photo of Vince and his new grandchild next week just like they had when Shane's first son was born.
- Shelton defeated Carlito to become the #1 contender to Nitro's IC Title.
- Hulk Hogan cut a promo about respect. Orton interrupted and talked about Brooke. They eventually exchanged punches.
- Mickie James defeated Candice. During Candice's intro Jim Ross ripped on Kenny Rogers' plastic surgery.
- Maryse, who was rumored to be a frontrunner in the Diva search, was eliminated. This week on SD they will play musical chairs. No, I'm not kidding.
