WWE Judgement Day Results

WWE Championship
John Cena (c) vs. The Great Khali

This was a very one-sided match. Khali dominated for most of it except for when it really counts - the end. Khali ended up submitting to the STFU after being unable to get to the ropes.
Me: 1/1
Dave: 1/1

Handicap match for the ECW World Championship
Mr. McMahon (c), Shane McMahon and Umaga vs. Bobby Lashley

I predicted this one dead on. Lashley pinned Shane and was announced as the winner. Umaga then attacked him and Vince took the belt and told him (Lashley) that he (Vince) had to be pinned to regain the championship.
Me: 2/2
Dave: 2/2

2 out of 3 Falls match for the WWE United States Championship
Chris Benoit (c) vs. Montel Vontavious Porter

I was wrong when I said that this would go all three falls. This might be one of the only times that I have seen a best of whatever match not go to all the falls. MVP wins with the Playmaker in the first fall and a rollup (?) for the second to win his first WWE title.
Me: 3/3
Dave: 3/3

Elijah Burke vs. CM Punk

An okay match. Punk wins as expected.
Me: 4/4
Dave: 4/4

World Heavyweight Championship
Edge (c) vs. Batista

The ending came out of nowhere in this match. Batista gave Edge a spinebuster and then Edge no sold it and got Batista with a schoolboy.
Me: 5/5
Dave: 5/5

Carlito vs. Ric Flair
Flair won.
Me: 6/6
Dave: 5/6

WWE Tag Team Championship
Hardy Boyz (c) vs. Cade & Murdoch

This match wasn't previously announced as far as I know. Dave picked C&M and after a little bit of doubt I chose the Hardys. Hardys ended up winning and keeping the titles. This feud will likely continue seeing as how there are no other serious tag team threats on RAW. The WGTT are still 2nd tier and other teams like The Highlanders, Cryme Tyme, and V Squared have become jokes.
Me: 7/7
Dave: 5/7

Could I, the Mysterious J, acheive prediction perfection? Read on to find out...

Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels
For the 2 or so days before the PPV I read online that Shawn had 'blown out' his knee last week, but that the match was still going to take place as planned. The reports had stated that he was going to be taking some time off after this match. At that point I was considering changing my pick to Orton. Then on Sunday morning I read that the earlier reports about Shawn's knee were overstated and that the injury was really an existing injury that he had for a few months now and that his schedule would become lighter, but it was nothing serious. I decided not to change my pick and stick with Shawn to win. As it turns out it looks like the early reports did indeed have some truth to them to the point that the WWE had incorporated the injury into the storyline. Supposedly the 'injuries' that Shawn received at the hands of Orton's attack last Monday put last night's match in jeopardy (storyline wise). During the PPV Orton attacked Shawn backstage and later on the doctor refused to let Shawn wrestle. Shawn did anyways and got little to no offense in the match (he wrestled with some glazed-over look in his eyes). The ref then had no other option but to call for the bell and end the match. After the ref helped Shawn to his feet Orton delivered an RKO which prompted Shawn's wife to run from the back to the ring to check on Shawn. Orton wins.
Me: 7/8
Dave: 5/8

Summary

I would have gotten perfect picks of I had changed my pick like I had planned. I got 7/8 correct which is great compared to the 0/5 I got for Backlash.

WWE Judgement Day Predictions

WWE Championship
John Cena (c) vs. The Great Khali
I Say:
This is an easy one so I'm going to get straight to the point. Cena wins. They may book the match so Khali still comes out looking strong by having a countout Cena loss, but I'll stay with Cena. I really hope the rumors aren't true and that Snitsky isn't going to be moved to RAW to feud with Cena. Who's next? Mark Henry? Some oversized talent lacking newbie from OVW?
Dave Says: Incredible. The Great Khali is hardly mobile, has two moves and is main eventing a PPV. There is no way they could possibly put the belt on Khali. It's just not possible. He may be about the only wrestler I WOULDN'T want to see get the belt from Cena. Cena will win.

Handicap match for the ECW World Championship
Mr. McMahon (c), Shane McMahon and Umaga vs. Bobby Lashley
I Say:
I really want to say that the McMahons and Umaga will win, but I suspect that Lashley will pick up the win to help prolong the feud. He won't get the title though. Lashley will likely pin Shane (or less likely, Umaga) to get the win, and then Vince will claim that since he (Vince) wasn't pinned that he's still the ECW Champ. No matter what happens I see Vince keeping the title and Lashley likely getting it back at 1NS since the PPV is and ECW at its roots even though it's tri-branded this year. If Shane or Umaga picks up the pin will they become the new champ?
Dave Says: This is going to be Lashley's revenge. Lashley will get the belt back.

2 out of 3 Falls match for the WWE United States Championship
Chris Benoit (c) vs. Montel Vontavious Porter
I Say:
I've said it for the past couple of PPV that I thought that MVP would beat Benoit for the title and I've been wrong. I'll go with the same pick since the more matches that these two have the more likely MVP is going to pick up the win and his first title in the WWE. This match will go to the 3rd fall.
Dave Says: Well, I've been wrong the last two times these two have met so I'm going for the clean sweep. MVP gets the title.

Elijah Burke vs. CM Punk
I Say:
This is a toss-up. Vince presented Burke to the crowd a few months ago as if Burke is going to be a big player in the future of ECW and WWE as a whole. Other that being undersized a bit I believe that Punk fits the bill a little more than Burke does. Punk to win. I see a very, very strong chance of a DQ win due to interference by the New Breed.
Dave Says: CM Punk, only because I don't know who Burke is.

World Heavyweight Championship
Edge (c) vs. Batista
I Say:
There is no way that Edge is going to have a title run of less than 2 weeks. With 2 of WWE's top stars on the shelves for a little while the WWE needs to give Edge a quality title run. They have got to keep this feud going for a little while since there is not really any other top-level guy on SD to challenge for the belt other that Batista. I do however see a chance that Randy Orton may jump to SD since he could get lost in the shuffle once the Cena/HBK feud gets going again on RAW. Edge wins and retains here. That is unless there is a Edge DQ which looks possible.
Dave Says: Edge will win.

Carlito vs. Ric Flair
I Say:
I see this feud continuing for some time. Either one of these two could win here, but I'll go with the veteran - Flair. I predict that Torrie will be in Flair's corner.
Dave Says: I'm sorry mysterious "J". Flair is an embarrasment. His legacy is being irrepairably destroyed. When Flair wins it makes wrestling seem so fake like when Verne Gagne used to win his company's title all the time. Carlito has never been the same since he left Smackdown so I'm going to give him the victory and hope he can get his career back on track.

Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels
I Say:
This match was thrown together too quickly with no build up in my opinion. I can't see Shawn putting Orton over. Shawn with the win.
Dave Says: I'm going to go with Shawn Michaels because A. He's been a helluva worker B. Orton is probably still in the doghouse.

WWE Womens Championship
Melina (c) v. Candice Michelle
I Say:
As of this writing, this match has not officially been announced, but looks to be taking place judging by RAW over the past few weeks. I just can't see Melina dropping the title to someone of Candice's calibre of in-ring skills. She has been showing improvement as of late though. Melina gets the win. Again, unless there is a DQ win for Candice after Victoria's interference.
Dave Says: I always choose Melina because she's 10 times better looking than Candice.

Summary
I Say:
Cena, Lashley, MVP, Punk, Edge, Flair, Shawn Michaels, & Melina
Dave Says: Cena. Lashley, MVP, Punk, Edge, Carlito, Shawn Michaels, & Melina

Note: PPV results will be posted some time on Monday and not at the usual time - the night of the show.
