WWE Great American Bash 2007 Results

Singapore Cane Match
Sandman vs. Carlito
This match was probably the worst match of the night. The ending came when Sandman finally got the cane down from the pole and took a swing at Carlito. Carlito ducked and hit Sandman with the Backcracker and the pin. Nobody even got hit win the cane.

Cruiserweight Open
Chavo Guerrero (c) vs. Jimmy Wang Yang vs. Jamie Noble vs. Funaki vs. Sahannon Moore
Even before the match started I figured that Chavo wasn't going to retain the title. He is scheduled to feud with Rey when Rey comes back and I'm pretty sure that the WWE feels that the Cruiserweight Title is beneath him (Rey). Although I never updated my predictions I went with the same guy as I did last month - Jimmy Wang Yang. Before the match started Hornswoggle crawled out from under the ring and jumped into the ring. He soon retreated back under the ring once the bell rang though. This match was actually pretty good. Noble and Yang particularly are a lot more talented than their position on the card would lead someone to believe. Ending came when all 5 guys were laid out. Hornswoggle came out form under the ring and hit Noble with a Tadpole Splash. After looking confused for a few seconds the referee did the 3 count. Hornswoggle is the new Cruiserweight Champion. Although he wasn't scheduled to be part of the match since he was in the ring when the bell rang he became an official participant - Or at least that's how Michale Cole explianed it.

WWE United States Championship
Montel Vontavious Porter (c) vs. Matt Hardy
The announcers were really hyping up Hardy as if he truly had a shot at winning. They were wrong. Dave and myself were right though. MVP retains.

WWE Women's Championship
Candice Michelle (c) vs. Melina
I've said it many times before. Candice continues to impress. She defeated Melina, a.k.a. Dave's honey, after hitting her with a standing Bulldog which she calls the Candy Wrapper.
Me: 2/4
David: 2/3

After the Candice/Melina match Matt Hardy was shown in the back talking to Jeff. He told Jeff that he needed to keep his focus during the match or else he would lose like he (Matt) did to MVP. Candice then was shown coming back from her match and started pouring water all over herself as the Hardys stood there with their jaws hanging open. The whole thing was a little cheesy since they showed Candice pouring the water on herself in slo-motion, but showed the the Hardys in full speed. As the Hardys were standing there stunned Farooq came into the frame and said 'Sheee-It'...I mean 'Damn!'.

WWE Intercontinental Championship
Umaga (c) vs. Jeff Hardy
A good match. I actually tought that Hardy would win. I was wrong though. After that running ass slam and the Samoan Spike Umaga got the pinfall to retain the IC Title. The ending looked a little rushed. Umaga looked like he was in a hurry to end the match. Maybe he had to take a crap or something.

Texas Bullrope Match
Randy Orton vs. Dusty Rhodes
The match started off with a few spots where Rhodes was yanking Orton around with the bullrope. It turns out that the only way to win was by pinfall or submission. Orton clocked Rhodes with the cowbell and scored the pinfall. He then went to kick Rhodes in the head, but Cody made the save. I was hoping that Cody would turn on his father, but no such luck. There was no blood in this match which was a big surprise.

ECW World Championship
John Morrison (c) vs. CM Punk
A good match. The ending came out of nowhere though. Punk jumped off of the ropes only to have Morrison kick him in the leg and then score the pinfall. Maybe the WWE didn't know how to finish the match. They should have gone with my prediction and had Morrison get DQ'd leading to an Extreme Rules rematch at Summerslam.

World Heavyweight Championship
The Great Khali (c) vs. Kane vs. Batista
3 Very slow guys. Khali was dominant for a lot of the match. Towards the end Kane and Batista put Khali through the ECW announcers' table. Khali eventually made his way back into the ring and won after a 2-handed Chokeslam onto Kane. I guess that way Batista doesn't look bad going into his presumed feud with Khali going into Summerslam.

WWE Championship
John Cena (c) vs. Bobby Lashley
I'm not going to go into all of the details, but I should have picked Cena. He always wins as he did here. Also, over the weekend I saw a TV commercial advertising an upcoming local event where Cena would be defending the WWE Title against Orton. He gave Lashley the F-U from the top rope and then got the pin. I was expecting a Lashley hell turn after the match like the WWE has been testing out on house shows, but the two of them just shook hands to end the PPV.
Me: 4/9
David: 6/8

Total
I did pretty bad at 4/9 while Dave, who had very little confidence in his picks, got 75% with 6/8 picks right. I think that Dave may have been playing possum.

Since this was the first WWE PPV since the whole Benoit situation I was curious to see if there would be any Benoit-related signs. I had read that the WWE was being very vigilant in taking taking Benoit signs away from the crowds recently. I was convinced that at least a couple would have made it onto TV. I only saw one though. It said 'The Taskmaster Did It'.

Also, during the PPV King Book-ah made an appearance and once again proclaimed that Triple H was not the 'King of Kings'. He also again commanded Jerry Lawler, whom he called Jerome, to stop calling himself a king and to lay his crown and Book-ah's feet. Lawler refused and Book'ah called Lawler treasonous and left. I suspect that the angle will continue tonight.
