ECW One Night Stand Results [Updated]

The second annual ECW One Night Stand PPV is in the books. Let's check the results and see who got more predictions right!

Jerry Lawler v. Taz

Prior to the match Lawler walked over to Joey Styles who was sitting at the announcers' table near the entrance. He then smirked and proceeded to slap the taste out of Joey Styles' mouth. Lawler then went to the ring and as soon as the bell rang Joey Styles jumped onto Lawler's back. After throwing Styles off Lawler went for a piledriver on him. Taz snuck up behind him an locked the Tazmission on. Lawler passed out in about 10 seconds and the referee checked Lawler's arm by lifting and dropping it. No response from Lawler. Taz wins. I was disappointed that the match didn't last more than 1 minute. Taz did commentary for the rest of the night.
Me: 1/1
David: 0/1

Masato Tanaka v. Balls Mahoney
Not as good as Tanaka's match last year. I wasn't expecting a real great match so I wasn't disappointed. Balls won after a chair shot to Tanaka's head.
Me: 1/2
David: 1/2

Tajiri & Super Crazy w/Mikey Whipwreck v. The Full Blooded Italians
No Mikey in this match. Big Guido came out with the FBI though. Tajairi, Super Crazy, and Little Guido had better matches than they have ever had in the WWE. A lot of stiff shots. FBI won with a double Fisherman Suplex onto Tajiri. After the match Big Show came out (with a new and much better theme) and kicked Big Guido in the nuts. He then cleans house of all other 4 wrestlers. He put Tony Mamaluke into the Million Dollar Dream/Cobra Clutch and while still having him in the hold gave him a backbreaker across his leg and then (still with the move locked on mind you) threw Tony out of the ring like a rag doll. An excellent match.
Me: 2/3
David: 1/3

Kurt Angle v. Randy Orton
This match was a bit of a disappointment, but still very good. A lot of armlocks and submission holds. Therefore it got a little boring at times. Numerous escapes by Orton, but he ended up tapping after an ankle lock. After the match the ECW ref tried helping Orton to the back, but Orton didn't want any part of it. He motioned toward the back and two Raw trainers came out. Orton accepted their help.
Me: 3/4
David: 2/4

Mick Foley & Edge w/Lita v. Terry Funk & Tommy Dreamer w/Beulah
Not as much of a bloodbath as I expected. Prior to the match Mick Foley cut a promo about how he loved ECW at one time; when it was run by someone who was a pioneer and a genius.....Stephanie McMahon. Foley then started chanting 'Long Live the Alliance'. After team ECW was introduced Beulah challenged Lita to make the match a 3 on 3 match instead. While Lita didn't explicitly accept the challenge, that's what it became after the two women went after each other. Neither woman was ever tagged into the match though. During the match a sheet of wood covered in barbed wire was brought in and it was thrown on top of Funk. Foley later got thrown into it head first. In the middle of the match Foley grinded a piece of barbed wire across Funk's face and Funk started screaming 'My Eye! My Eye!' He then was taken to the back. Foley, Edge, and Lita then triple-teamed Dreamer as Beulah watched. Funk eventually came out with his head wrapped in bandages carrying a 2x4 wrapped in barbed wire. He then tried to light it on fire, but couldn't manage to do it. Beulah had to do it for him. He then hit Foley a few times and eventually caught Foley's back on fire. Foley was then sent to the floor onto the barbed wire covered sheet of wood. Funk would suffer the same fate later. The end of the match came when Dreamer went for the Death Valley Driver onto Lita only to have Edge make the save. As Beulah was kneeling over an injured Dreamer Edge speared her. He then got into the missionary position on top of her and thrusted his groin as the ref counted 3. Team Raw wins. After the match Funk kept yelling 'Help Me! Get me out of here!' as he tried to escape the barbed wire. Adding the women to the match was purely done so neither Funk or Dreamer would have to be pinned.
Me: 3/5
David: 3/5

World Championship
Rey Mysterio (C) v. Sabu
Better than any Rey match I have ever seen. If he did this kind of stuff regularly I wouldn't dislike him so much. During the match as Sabu was standing on a table at ringside Rey jumped onto the ropes and onto Sabu. They both went crashing through the table. Sabu then started holding his own throat as if his throat was crushed. He also was holding his arm. The referee put the 'X' symbol up (which signals the guys backstage that a legit injury has occured), but for some reason nobody came out. The end came when Rey was standing on another table at ringside and Sabu jumped from a chair to the ropes and then gave Rey a DDT through the table. Rey landed right on his head an Sabu rolled onto his own neck (remember, he's had a broken neck before). The ref calls for someone to come from backstage. A squirrelly looking doctor in suit and bowtie came out and after examining both wrestlers yelled out 'It Over!'. The match was a no contest. Both guys had to be helped from ringside. I'm pretty sure that the whole doctor thing is a work. This way Rey can keep the title and Sabu doesn't have to lose. I'm throwing this match out.
Me: 3/5
David: 3/5

WWE Championship
John Cena (C) v. Rob Van Dam
I have never seen a crowd so anti-Cena. There wasn't a single person cheering fro Cena. When Cena came out he was greeted by a flurry of boos and chants of 'Fuck You Cena' along with a sea of middle fingers. I have never seen anyone get such a bad reaction...ever! When Cena threw his shirt into the crowd they started chanting 'Throw It Back'. Cena threw the shirt 4 or 5 times and it kept getting thrown back at him. Eventually he just tossed it onto the floor at ringside. The entire match consisted of the following anti-Cena chants - 'Same Old Shit' , 'Fuck You Cena' , 'Stupid Bullshit' , 'You Can't Wrestle' ,and 'Fucking Asshole'. Whenever Cena was on the floor the fans would put their middle fingers in his face and tell him to go fuck himself. At one point Cena and RVD were trading punched and whenever Cena would throw a punch the crowd would boo and whenever RVD would throw a punch they would cheer. Cena looked like he was enjoying being the heel. The actual match was pretty good. Cena had the STFU on RVD and RVD got to the ropes. After Cena refused to break the hold the ref pulled Cena off of RVD. Cena didn't like that so he laid out the referee. Later on Cena called for a new ref and Nick Patrick (who was the ref for the Rey v. Sabu match) came out. He got knocked out too though. A guy wearing a long black coat and black motorcycle helmet crawled out from under the ring and speared Cena through a table that was in the ring. The man took his helmet off and it was Edge - the man who is supposed to challenge Cena for the title at Vengeance. RVD would get back in the ring and give Cena the 5-Star Frogslpash. No ref though. Paul Heyman came out and counted the 1,2,3. RVD was then announced as the new champ. He grabbed the belt and went into the crowd to celebrate. He eventually made his way back into the ring to celebrate with the rest of the ECW locker room that had come out. Here's the thing....I'm throwing this match out. It's going to be ruled a no contest - most likely on Raw tomorrow. The 3 count wasn't made by an ECW, SD, or RAW referee. It was made by Heyman. Styles and Taz were selling it like RVD was really the new champ and that he would be defending the title against Edge at Vengeance. If I had to guess I would say that the match will now be a triple threat.

Due to the WWE's decision to recognize RVD as the WWE champion I have decided not to throw out this match.
Me: 3/6
David: 4/6

Summary:
David picked 4/6 right and I only got 3/6. David wins. It's too bad that the Rey v Sabu match didn't have a finish. I was actually satisfied with the PPV overall. It was a break from the normal WWE stuff.

Other Notes:
The beginning of the PPV was kicked off by Paul Heyman who thanked the fans for making this possible and all of that other schtick. He then went into a rant about how ECW will once again revolutionize the wrestling world.

Rey was shown numerous times during the opening of the PPV in a video that looks like it will be the new open to the TV show. That makes me think that he may indeed jump to ECW.

Eugene made an appearance. He told the crowd that his Uncle Eric once told him that he was as smart as the ECW fans. Eugene then read a poem talking about how much he likes ECW and how he wants to hug each and every ECW fan in the building. The Sandman then made his way out through the crowd and into the ring. He then beat Eugene with a cane. He kept beating him while Eugene was trying to make his way to the back.

There were rumors that Bill Alfonso would be managing Sabu and RVD at the PPV, but he didn't. He did however come out during the post-match celebration following the Cena/RVD match.

JBL came on and cut a promo from the balcony. He bashed ECW and its fans before going into the whole situation involving the Blue Meanie at last year's ECW PPV. He then ripped into Taz before announcing that he's coming back to Smackdown and taking over Taz's spot as color commentator.

Despite not making the appearance in the FBI v. Guido/Crazy match, Mikey was part of the ECW crowd celebrating RVD's win in the ring at the end of the night.

Nothing involving Justin Creible, Danny Doring, Francine, Al Show, or Stevie Richards.

I was really surprised that they didn't show See No Evil clips a thousand times.

Best signs of the night - Fuck You Cena , The Champ Is Queer , & If Cena Wins We Riot

Kurt Angle came out to a new theme. It's basically the same one that he has always used, but without the parts that people chant 'You Suck' to.

There are reports on the Internet that Sabu said to the ref, 'I tore my bicep' after the first table spot, but I don't think I saw that. That could have been the reason when the ref put up the 'X' symbol.
