WWE Vengeance PPV Predictions

Before I give my opening comments I would like to yield the floor to David so he can give his victory speech since he predicted more matches correctly at ECW 1NS.
First, I wanna congratulate myself on my victory last PPV over the indomitable "The WrestleBlogger". Afterwards I was carried to the WrestleBlogger lockerroom where the entire WrestleBlogger staff showered me in champaign and celebrated until the wee hours of the morning. But The WrestleBlogger is not one to take a loss well. I happen to know he's been training his ass off, spending long hours in the gym, downing glassfuls of eggs, taking salt baths to toughen his skin and practicing his most frightening facial expressions. This time I may be in for the challenge of my life when a hardened, hungry "The WrestleBlogger" comes seeking.... VENGEANCE.
Well said David, but just for future reference - it's Wrestleblogger and not THE Wrestleblogger. Also, my name is not Wrestleblogger. That's the name of the site. With that out of the way - I would like to welcome everyone to another edition of Wrestleblogger predictions. Let's get to the picks...
WWE Championship
RVD vs. Edge
I Say: Believe it or not this is one of the easiest pick on the entire card. Raw has been without a champion fro two weeks and I can't see them waiting more than a month more to get the belt back on Raw. Edge is obviously going to regain the WWE Title. That way Raw can have a champ and ECW can have a champ. A lot of people have been down on RVD lately saying that his matches for the new ECW haven't been as good as they were during ECW's original existence. I've got news for those people - that was more than 5 years ago. Get over it. His matches nowadays are fine. Edge's matches in the past few months have been a lot better than matches from earlier in his career. With all of that said I wouldn't be surprised to see this match steal the show.
David Says:This is a tough one. Edge has been getting a lot of airtime lately and the WWE has been building him up to be a top tier talent. He's held the championship strap once already but management obviously felt he needed some more honing and gave the title back to John Cena after just three weeks. My prediction for One Night Stand was an RVD win with a short title reign and I'm sticking with it. Time for Edge to shine (before handing the title back to Cena or HHH).
Handicap Match
Degeneration X (Shawn Michaels and Triple H) vs. Spirit Squad (Kenny, Mikey, Johnny, Nicky and Mitch)
I Say: This match is also an easy one to pick. DX is going to win. It's that simple. DX is not going to be brought back and lose their first match back. It's not going to happen. Is there a small chance that the S. Squad will win? Sure, but it's close to impossible. I see Vince and Shane getting involved somehow.
David Says: I see the new DX getting beaten down and humiliated. Yeah right. Do I really even need to explain why DX will win?
1. HHH is McMahon's son in law
2. They have been teasing a DX reunion for months now
3. DX sells merchandise
4. Spirit Squad is a joke
The only chance I see is the writers decide to give the SS a victory in order to create a feud but I REALLY don't see DX losing at their coming out party. The only question is whether or not we see a new member added at Vengeance.
Extreme Lumberjack Match
Sabu vs. John Cena
I Say: As far as I know the lumberjacks are going to all be ECW guys. I don't imagine that any WWE guys will be used. Is John Cena going to lose 2 big PPV matches is a row? Doubtful. Therefore, I have to pick John Cena to beat the 'Genie' as he called him on Conan O'Brien. I am looking to see a lot of big bumps from Sabu and a lot of schtick from Cena. I completely understand that WWE needs to keep Cena elevated and therefore can't afford to have him lose. On the other hand - Sabu could still use a win to help re-establish him as an ECW icon.
David Says: Sabu's been doing pretty good for a guy who has no future in the WWE. I don't know who the lumberjacks will be but I suspect there will be a ton of ECW goons around the ring. John Cena will land outside, get clobbered by a dozen fists before unleashing his steroid powered rage on half the lumberjacks and FU'ing Sabu into tomorrow. Bet on it.
Randy Orton vs. Kurt Angle
I Say: Since Angle defeated Orton @ 1NS I would tend to pick Angle to lose, but this new Kurt Angle needs to be established as a guy who can dominate anyone anywhere. I'll have to pick Angle to win, but an Orton win certainly wouldn't surprise me.
David Says: MAN of MAN Kurt Angle is looking brutal. The headbutt he delivered Justin Credible on last week's ECW show was the hardest headbutt I've ever seen in wrestling. This was no Big Show headbutting his own hand. This was a hard, headache inducing blow. Kurt Angle is just too hard and too intense to lose to Orton at this point.
Best Of Three Falls Match
Ric Flair vs. Mick Foley
I Say: Let's first state the obvious - Each wrestler will win one of the first 2 falls, the third fall will decide the winner and that the first two falls will be really quick. In one of his promos, Foley made it sound like he would do a lot of technical moves. I am actually looking forward to this if it is true. Also, Foley said on thsi past Monday's Raw that this match would be a 'stinker'. I hope he's wrong, but there is a probable chance that he will be right. I've seen Foley do a technical match once before and he actually knows some good moves. It may have taken him more than 30 years, but I think Ric Flair had finally hit his stride. Just Kidding...His best days are still ahead of him. Seriously, I can see either guy winning this match. My sense tells me that Foley will be the bigger man and let Flair go over him, but I'm going against my sense and saying that Flair will lay down for Foley. I am sure that I'll be wrong, but I'm picking Foley anyways. In closing I would just like to say that this match should have gotten a lot more build-up. Yeah, I know that both of these guys are shells of their former selves, but because of their respective legacies they deserve to have had a better build-up as opposed to going back to a comment that Ric Flair made 3 years ago. Couldn't they have waited until Summerslam? Look for the feud to continue in some fashion after this match.
David Says:Oh Lord. It's tragic what Flair has become. His body looks bloated, his cheeks look like he's storing walnuts for the winter, he talks as if his dentures are about to pop loose and he takes bumps like a rookie. Seriously, I've never seen someone land so awkward after a back body drop than Ric Flair. The Ric Flair aura from the 80's and early 90's has long since faded and the jokes about his age are becoming increasingly painful. Please retire from active wrestling Ric. Please. That said he will be victorious. Flair has been established as a superior mat technician, he is a legend and Foley does have a habit of doing the J-O-B.
Kane vs. "Impostor Kane"
I Say: I don't know what to say about this match. I've never seen the fake Kane wrestle, but I'm pretty sure that he'll be horrible. I'll pick him though.
David Says: Errrr. It's no Undertaker vs Fake Undertaker (and that matched sucked). It all depends on whether this match is the culmination of the angle. I think the mystery will continue for awhile yet so an "Imposter Kane" victory will push the storyline forward. So who was the Fake Undertaker? I know that the wrestler was Brian Lee but who was he supposed to be in the storyline? A third brother? The ghost of Undertaker past? Some joker who could duplicate Undertakers sitting up trick? Wouldn't it be wonderful if they tied in the "Imposter Kane" angle with the May 19th angle and... aw, who cares.
Triple Threat Intercontinental Championship Match
Shelton Benjamin vs. Johnny Nitro vs. Carlito
I Say: If I didn't know about Nitro and Melina's bad reputation backstage at Smackdown I would pick Nitro to will for sure. Not a doubt in my mind. I'm torn - I really want to pick Nitro to still win, but I don't think that his bad behavior is going to be rewarded. I guess I'll go with Shelton retaining even though Carlito has been getting a good face reaction and could certainly regain the title. Bottom Line - I see all three of these guys having a good chance of winning.
David Says: Life has not been kind to Carlito since he moved to RAW. His momentum was killed and he's seems to be lost in the talent pool. I really have no clue who might win this match so I'm going with Carlito only because he's easily my favorite of the three.
Umaga vs. Eugene
I Say: Couldn't they just have this match on Raw instead? I guess not. Eugene had become a joke. Is he a phenomenal wrestler? Sure. Does that prevent him from becoming a joke? No. Umaga has to win. There is no way around it. Maybe Hacksaw or one of Eugene's other friends will interfere. I'm picking (said like Estrada says it) Thee Seemoan Booldoser!
David Says: Logic would say that after two ass kickings by Umaga that Eugene would get his vengeance at the PPV (who's name suddenly escapes me). However, after watching wrestling for two decades I can tell you that you don't bet against island monsters and Umaga doesn't go from destroying Eugene to losing in just one week.
Winner: The Samoan Bulldozer..... Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumaga
See you @ Vengeance...
